Three portraits, one attitude. A seated elder, a raised finger, and a palette burned down to bronze and shadow — this is anime nostalgia rendered with the gravity of an oil painting.
Design Story
The composition builds in layers: a large head study top right, a turned back figure left carrying the turtle kanji, and at the centre the seated master himself, sunglasses catching light, beard falling in white brushwork against black robes. The tonal range is deliberately narrow — antique gold, umber, smoke — so the graphic reads as a single sculpted mass rather than a busy scene. Highlights land exactly where they should: the glasses, the knuckles, the beard. Everything else dissolves into the fabric.

Fit & Wear
Placed as a full back panel, the artwork uses the oversized silhouette as its canvas rather than fighting it. The dark ground merges with the black garment, so the figure appears to emerge from the cloth itself, edges fading instead of stopping. Broad shoulders and a dropped seam give the composition room to breathe, while the vertical build of the seated pose follows the natural fall of the body. Read from across a room, it registers as one warm bronze form on black. Styled simply — wide trousers, low-key footwear — it does all the talking.
